Photographing this family was not the first for me, they were one of the first families I photographed when I started this journey a few years back. I’ve done a few other projects for her and when she contacted me about doing the ENTIRE family on her husband’s side…let me tell you, it was nerve racking because I’ve not photographed so many before. And truthfully, if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have agreed to it. She’s always believed in me and has been so great to work with and knew this would be a good thing. So we set out on a brisk morning about a month ago, (yes, not sunset….photographers know mornings can be a tricky time) and knocked this session out. All seventeen of them showed up and were so great to work with, it couldn’t have gone any better! Thank you to my good friend Kelli for coming out to help coordinate everyone, and merely for moral support
About a month after this session, it was very, very sad to hear that one of the family members passed away…they are truly grateful that these family portraits were taken. I am truly grateful that I photographed them. Not only did it teach me to step out of my comfort zone (photographing more then five is a challenge) but that THIS is one of the reasons I take pictures….to document, to create memories. Take the time out to have your portraits taken professionally, or just at all. Life is short and our days just go by too fast….
